Tongo (“Tongo”, “we”, “us”) provides real-time voice translation, a live meeting interpreter, and an AI meeting notetaker. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Email support@tongoia.com.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address and a unique user ID through Firebase Authentication. We use this to create and secure your account.

Audio, translations and meeting content

To translate and transcribe, we process the audio you capture and the text it produces: spoken phrases, translations, meeting recordings, transcripts and any follow-up questions you ask our AI about a meeting. When you use the live interpreter or meeting notetaker, a bot joins the call you point it at and processes the meeting’s audio so it can translate or transcribe it.

Usage and billing data

We record how much of each feature you use (for example, minutes of translation or transcription) to enforce plan allowances and credits, and your subscription/credit status from the app stores via RevenueCat. We never receive or store your full card number.

Device and technical data

We collect basic technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, language, IP address and diagnostic logs to operate and troubleshoot the service.

Your responsibility when recording. Laws on recording conversations vary by country and state, and many require the consent of everyone involved. Before you record, interpret or send a bot into a meeting, you are responsible for obtaining any consent the law requires from the other participants.

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the providers that help us run Tongo, under their respective terms:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or in connection with a business transfer.

4. Data retention

We keep your meetings and transcripts until you delete them or close your account. You can delete an individual meeting in the app, or email us to delete your account and associated data. Some records may be retained as required for legal, security or billing purposes.

5. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, email support@tongoia.com. You can also sign out, delete meetings, or manage your subscription directly from your App Store or Google Play account.

6. Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls and reputable infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your information and notify you of incidents as required by law.

7. International transfers

We and our providers may process your information in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

8. Children

Tongo is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
